Re: The Fall

Yup, still makes me cry, cry, cry.

Third time watching it. Will most likely imbibe again this weekend. It's just too amazing not to, though I can't understand why Entertainment Weekly gave it an F rating.

Speaking of them, I sent in an e-mail regarding their coverage of fall TV and how it's stupid for networks to keep remaking good British shows. The next day, I got an e-mail saying they were interested in publishing the letter. Every time I've written to them, I get this reply. I don't know if this means I'm special or they get very few letters. At any rate, they always ask me to confirm my name, home town, and birthdate so they can print it. And it's never published, but whatevs. S'their magazine, they can do what they want.

Now that I will have a home in downtown Portland (12th and Montgomery, yay!), I've been thinking a lot about decorating the tiny thing. I've decided I want a color scheme and decoration theme based on Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette and "Girl in the Fireplace." Target has some really pretty sheets with regal looking diamonds on them, so I plan to pick those up this weekend, and they've got some throw pillows that remind me of promotional art for Coppola's film. And, of course, I have to get the teapot for steeping loose leaf tea, the one that features blooming flowers in the tea. I'm thinking that the colors I plan to focus on are pink, gold, and black. Pink and black from the vaguely punkish Marie Antoinette marketing, and gold specifically from the tone and filter of the cinematography during Reinette's scenes in the Moffatt episode.

I am definitely all for suggestions about quirky little items to make the flat more Reinette- or Marie-friendly. Preferably inexpensive ones.

movies, i just snogged madame de pompadour, let's go to my house, the fall, doctor who
