I've read surprisingly few of these! Though I have read "Cities in Flight" and "The Man in the High Castle".

Well, one begins by italicising all of the fantasy titles, whilst wondering how SF, a genre written in and about by Kingsley Amis and other worthwhile authors, could get itself tangled up with such embarrassing dross.

I invoke Sturgeon's Law :-) But I am mildly surprised that you have at least made one step further in the right direction:
'SF's no good,' they bellow till we're deaf.
'But this looks good.'--- 'Well then, it's not SF.'
Admitting fantasy to the ranks of speculative fiction (or structural fabulation if you want to get seriously snooty about it) would be a step too far!
