i just finished helping my neighbors across the street with collecting donations for a neighborhood-wide hurricane katrina collection. and i feel good. we got soooooooo much stuff - a truck bed full and a trailer full. i mean, people were giving all kinds of stuff - food, clothes, blankets, toys, books, a highchair and even a freakin tv. i don't know how much good the tv will do at this point, but hey, at least it's something. my neighbors are on their way now to take everything to chateau elan because they're doing a huge red cross-sponsored charity drive.

i hope a lot of people are taking the initiative to do similar things. i just don't see how you can't. how some people can sit back and watch and shake their heads, but not get their ass up off the couch and either give a monetary donation, no matter how small, or go through household items and get rid of what you don't use or need. i personally know i had gobs of stuff and i'm sure a lot of people are like me....they just need to get motivated and sort through it.

anyway, it makes me feel a little bit better to know that i'm not the only one who wants to help these poor people out and that my neighbors (some of them at least) are willing to do a little work, too.
