(no subject)
wow. just wow. i was up until 3:00 a.m. watching the news last night and i still really didn't get any sleep. an image of this old black guy crying because he couldn't hold on to his wife's hand and she was washed away by the flooding haunted me all night. i just don't know what to say about all this. i feel helpless.
i DO want to say one thing. please don't EVEN compare this hurricane to the tsunami in asia last christmas. i read an article just now and a fire chief of some town in mississippi was quoted as saying, "this is our tsunami." and i couldn't believe what i was reading. this is going to be a horrible, horrible situation once everything's been evaluated and counted. but it will NOT even be CLOSE to the tsunami numbers. those people had absolutely no warning. it's just not even the same sort of situation.
well, i'm off to go to the red cross website to see if i can donate anything. keep these poor souls in your prayers/thoughts. they need all the help they can get.
