what a meet...

so yes medifeld did come away with the win over hopkington but only barely. Here's how it all went down. Early on in the meet hopkington was winning 1st places in several events and we were a few points back. then momentum changed in our favor around the 600 meter race and we evened the score up to within a point. so during the 100 meter run, we don't do as well as we'd hoped, due to fatigued medfield runners and some shoving from a couple hop-town guys. the 1 mile comes up and our guy (nolan) is on the last lap rounding the final turn and about to pass an opp. on the inside. but the kid blocks nolan, nolan is forced into 2nd place but then disqualified for thye shoving that the other guy was doing. a lot of guys on our team thought it was over then... but then the high jump comes along and two of our guys (ashcroft and hinga) are doing really well. they both clear 5'8" as well as two hopkington jumpers. so the bar's raised up to 5'10". because we, as a team had not gotten points where we had hoped to earlier, we had to win the high jump or hop-town would win. however, none of them made it over from medfield or hokington. so the points were handed out based on how many missed jumps each person had. it just happened that ashcroft and hinga came up with 1st and 2nd places and 3rd for hop-town. the score at this point was 41-39 us with only three points needed to win the meet at 44 pts. we then needed to win the 4x400 relay, which we did of course, in a blazing 3 minutes and 45 seconds!!! final score: medfield:48-40:hopkington!!!!!
two more meets in the season 'gainst norton and ashland... can't wait!
hw to do, dinner to eat, sleep needed to be had!
later!
