Damn the man...

Last night Mike, my roommate, Katyia, and Kate and I had a debate. The issues ranged from the environment to socialism vs. capitalism, and we ended up discussing these issues for a good three hours staying up in the girl's room till 1. It was really interesting to see the direction that each of them took in the discussions, as Katyia is from the Ukraine, Mike is from Romainia, and Kate is from the US. Then this morning Kate sent me a link to a very powerful article from the New York Times. http://www.nytimes.com/2005/09/02/opinion/02krugman.html?incamp=article_popular

You should all read this article. I was furious after reading it, as I have a friend down in Tulane (he's safe after the school's evacuation) but I really feel like the Bush administration needs the take the hit for this one. And if you read the article you will understand why. I have never been so politically motivated by an issue before. I urge you all to think with me about how collectively we can start something, possibly on livejournal, or maybe through outside friends, to make sure that Bush does not get off scott-free from this catastrophe. Whether it be through letters to major newspapers, congress men and women, or to anyone you can think of. After all aid took FOUR DAYS to reach New Orleans! That is "not acceptable" as Bush put it earlier in the week. But Bush has since retracted that statement, now saying that he is "satisfied with the effort." I plan on giving with my college to the Red Cross to help those victims of this disaster that our own government could not. I don't want to spoil the article for you all but definitely read it and comment or get back to me on any action you think we could take. I'd appreciate it.
I hope you're all well,
~Nigel
