oust the bastards...no drilling for oil in ANWR!!!!
i'm fuming right now over the vote today in the senate for drilling in the ANWR (Alaska National Wildlife Refuge), it barely passed by 51-49% vote. I want heads to roll in washington, republican heads especially. I want people chaining themselves to the proposed drilling site, setting up roadblocks on the access roads, and marooning each republican who voted yes in the ANWR among the thousands of caribou. Only then might they understand that drilling for oil destroys habitats and kills wildlife. In related news, my screename was seized by aol after i "violated the tos agreement" by, get this, posting a link for the john kerry citizen roll call website, a site dedicated to forming a list of names of people against the ANWR drilling, to which i added my name. So i was pretty pissed about that too.
i heard a republican today say on tv, that the 10 million barrels in the refuge would last 25 years for the US. that is complete bull. currently the US uses 20 million barrels of oil per day, and there are 42 gallons of oil to a barrel. for the ANWR oil to last 25 years, a mere 1150 barrels needs to be extracted per day from that source, which is a very low standard for the amount of oil that is there, considering that there is a well in nevada with less than a million barrels of oil that is extracting 4000 barrels of oil per day. stop the lies...
