I got an email today from the most gorgeous girl i've ever seen(a past crush...)There's a funny story behind how we met... Here's a picture of her(on the right) and the juicy details (which some of you may have heard already):
From left to right:Hunter(my bro), Me, Stav before going to my homecoming dance a couple years ago.
This is how I met Stav:
So a few years back I went to this wedding for a friend of my parents, it was her second marriage. The event was in late August, at this really nice antique beach resort in RI and the festivities spanned the entire weekend, from friday afternoon to sunday. So I get there with my family and I'm checking out the list of teenagers that are gonna be there, and I come across one name:Stav. She was 16 at the time and I was 15. There were a bunch of pictures of her posted up with her relatives (she was the neice of the bride)so I recognized her immediately when she arrived. My jaw hit the floor. It wasn't until later that night that I built up the courage to talk to her. She's from Israel so she has a pretty heavy accent(which sounds amazing I might add) and it was very hard to concentrate on the card game we were playing with her cousins at the time. So it gets late and my parents make me go to bed. About a half hour later, I'm staring up at the ceiling in my room, unable to sleep (for obvious reasons) when I hear a knock on my door. Earlier it had been my parents knocking to make sure I was in bed so I walked to the door in just boxers expecting it to be them again. To my surprise, it's Stav! She asks me to come up to her room to hang but I'm afraid my parents will find out so I stupidly decline the offer.
The next morning I hung out with her and this other girl with whom she was now sharing her room, this girl lucy. Lucy was very quick to notice that I had an enormous crush on stav, which was unfortunate for me because she was hounding me for the rest of the day to do something about it. For the rest of the day we hung out on the beach and in the hotel. Then that night there was an informal dance and lucy was again on my case. Nothing ended up happening until that night, when all the parents headed in early after many toasts of champagne and such. So stav and I and a bunch of other people went up to her room to talk. My parents made me go to bed at 12 which pissed me off cuz everyone else was still up there. However, my parents quickly went to bed and I hatched a plan for getting back up there when it would just be stav and I.
So I grab the rose from the vase in my room and creep slowly up the stairs. I almost run into several of the kids coming down from her room and I hide to avoid being seen on the way up with a rose in my hand. I wait till I think that everyone's left and then I go up the last stairs and stop at her door. For some reason I lose confidence in myself and decide to drop the rose in front of her door and opt not to give it to her personally. "I'll prolly never see her again anyways," I thought, cuz she was leaving for israel the next morning. I walk back downstairs to my room, lay on my bed and again stare at the ceiling, heartbroken.
My heart leaps into my throat when I hear a knock at the door. "STAV!" I think. I rush to the door, and to my disappointment it's not her but this guy who said he almost tripped on the rose I'd left outside stav's door. "She wants to see you," he said. So I climb the stairs to her room again, not knowing what I was in for. to my relief she was not offended, and just wanted to talk one-on-one. I wasn't really ready for her to be so understanding, so I was much more shy than I had been the two days before. We did however have a good heart-to-heart for three hours about life, school, and love. She left the next morning but we've kept in contact since, and I can't wait to see her again...
