Looking for Alaska
I have to read this book for Teen Book Club called 'Looking for Alaska'. It is really a great book and I have enjoyed it. The only problem is it makes me very depressed. There is a character in the book, Alaska, who dies in a bad car crash. She had been drinking and thats really all they know. It just seems all too similar to the way Courteny died. I had to stop reading because it make my cry, on two seperate occasoins. Now tonight I am trying to finish it and there is much talk of suicide and that makes me sad also.
This is a good part that I feel I will write down. They all have to take a religion class and this is a bit from during the class:
"...a great woman of Sufism, was seen running through the streets of her hometown, Barsra, carrying a torch in one hand and a bucket of water in the other. Whe somone asked her what she was doing, she answered, 'I an going to take this bucket of water and pour in on the flames of hell, and then I am going to use this torch to burn down the gates of paradise so that people will not love God for want of heaven or fear of hell, but because He is God.' " -John Green
I don't really know why I am posting this but I felt it was something to think about.
Now I must finish the book.
