Quick, I need help. Let's say I need to write a 5,000 word english paper.. Does that word count usually include the quotations from the texts? I mean, what if I have a few loong quotes (indented and size 10 font)- can I exclude those from the total count? which might give me another 500 words or so.. both a good thing and a bad thing ( Read more... )

Thanks Aude! You are right, I just got to my 5000 words including quotes and everything. Thanks for reminding me to include my works cited page.. completely slipped my mind despite the fact that I have citations up the whazoo.

I nearly panicked a couple of hours ago because as I was revising and writing my transitions.. my computer screen went black.. and I think it's just from overheating or something because it wasn't turned off but just black. and I could turn it off and on but nothing happens except the green light turns off and on. but after about 45 minutes and 20 chocolate-covered cookies and a panicked phone call to my dad and half an avocado, I regained my composure and my computer decided to work again. ohmygod, talk about stress. (and feeling sick from emotional over-eating)

And to top it off, my topic for modernism paper is about modern technology. i was just writing how dependent people are on it and how modernists had a love-hate relationship with it when this happens... ironic, no?

ok, just the ridiculous length of my comments reveal to me how stressed i am about this paper. i need to stop. i'm going to take a break and get back to it on another day. thanks for you help (and yes, you were very helpful). thank you.
