"You can't fit a square peg into a round hole."
People use this phrase all the time. It means you can't force something to fit somewhere. Normally this isn't expressed in a literal since. It is normally used to describe a problem in life that won't seem to go away.
"You can't fit a square peg into a round hole."
The only problem with this statement is that you can fit a square peg into a round hole if the peg is smaller in the hole.
So, maybe we should just reassess the problem and make our square smaller.
Or you could always make your hole bigger.
