If you can overlook some uniquely terrible acting, Babylon 5 can be really fantastic. Otherwise, well, I don't know that I'd recommend it.

I do really want to see band of brothers! Heard it's serious/depressing though.

BoB is really, really, really good. It's very serious and sometimes depressing (especially near the end), but it's an incredible story, and really worth seeing. Watchitwatchitwatchit!
