Series: Finding Home
Title: Greetings
Ed was used to being stared at. He was the youngest State Alchemist in history, his brother was taller and armored, he had bright gold eyes and hair and steel limbs. He knew without having to see them that he was being watched very carefully.
'At least my alchemy works. Damn Al, I hope you turned out alright. Please let me have gotten it right just this once and I promise you I'll come back and hug you untill you turn thirty.'
The feeling of eyes on him was getting worse, like there were more people gathering around him. He wasn't in a very defensible position in the middle of the woods and he wasn't about to go harrying of at random.
"Hey you!" He shouted, keeping the spear steady in both hands, eyes flittering around to catch any movement. "Where the hell am I? I think I'm lost here!" Okay, it wasn't the smartest thing to say but it was all he could think of.
A whisper of sound and a small boy fell from a tree to Ed's left, black clad body touching the ground without rustling a single blade of grass. He was even smaller then Ed. 'Granted I'm not SHORT! It's the automail's fault for stunting my growth spurt is all.'
The boy's hair stood on end, almost like a black candle flame with a single snowy star burst in front. He wore a black cloak and Ed couldn't tell much about his build. The white head band was strangely fitting, but the most astounding thing was the boys eyes. They were the crimson of fresh blood.
~Wolf eyes. Not like the fox whose eyes are clear and bright with blood lust, but shadowed, like badly cut amber set in copper instead of gold. The eyes of a weary lone wolf.~ Hiei thought. The child before him was frightened but still showing backbone, makeshift weaponheld in an expert pose. ~Like Yuusuke really, not sure of his position but willing to bluff and bluster first before getting to the nity gritty.~
Hiei let himself be looked over, knowing thet the boy wouldn't be able to see him holding his sword in a ready draw grip. The reiki the kid was emmitting wasn't quite enough to be in the visible spectrum ~visible to humans and the un-inhanced anyway~ but it was enough to make the jaganshi glad for his kekkie headband.
Deciding enough time had passed Hiei decided to get the party started. He never was one for waiting if he could help it. "You are in my territory kid, and yes, you are *very* lost. Follow me if you want to live." He wasn't afraid of the boy trying to attack him when he turned his back. If the kid was fast enough to get a blow in then Hiei deserved to get hit. It wouldn't stop him from ripping those metal limbs off and feeding the remaning flesh ones to one of the fox's plants though.
"Where are we going?"
Hiei felt a small grin pull at his lips. "To the Ningenkai and a Fox who owes me supper."
