When I was younger, we'd watch these Chinese soap operas. Sometimes the heroine would be deceived about her love interest by the antagonists and would wanted to give up on life. She checked herself into the temple and contemplated becoming a Buddhist nun. It involved shaving your head... I guess as a sign of leaving the material world and devoting yourself to achieving nirvana. Something like that.
Do Catholic nuns shave their heads too? I don't know because they wear their habits and it covers their hair, if it's there. Bryan noted that there was one nun in Sister Act that didn't wear the full habit and it showed her bangs. I thought maybe she was a nun-in-training.
Speaking of which, does anyone know about the practice of becoming a Catholic nun?
