So according to dictionary.com an analogy is "a. Similarity in some respects between things that are otherwise dissimilar b. A comparison based on such similarity" Analogies are very useful tools when you are trying to better someone's understanding of a situation. For example, Forest Gump's "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get." This compares life, something ridiculously hard to understand, and chocolates, something very easy to understand so that you can understand life better. I know that everyone probably understands the concept of an analogy, but this entry is for those of you who do not (who will remain nameless). When using an analogy to explain something unfamiliar, you want to compare it to something familiar, NOT to something even more unfamiliar than the thing you're trying to explain in the first place. You especially want to stay away from unfamiliar terms. Just a clue, baseball is not going to help a girl understand ANYTHING.
