So I'm at work, trying to get homework done...
The number of days left, the number of assignments, the amount of time
left to go out and have fun with my DC posse... All fleeting.
Naturally, this is a time for reminiscence. Looking back... High school
and college, both. And in doing so, I've come to a realization I'm not
sure I've verbalized nearly often enough: I am very lucky. There's that
whole business about if you can count the number of close friends you
have on one hand, you're lucky... Well. I'm VERY lucky. And I don't
know if I say thank you to those of you who have made a difference in
my life as often as you most assuredly deserve to hear it. So thanks.
Thanks for giving me spectacular memories and fabulous experiences. I
really and truly believe that I am who I am today because of all the
people who've been a part of my life... "I've heard it said, that
people come into our lives for a reason..." (Wicked) And, assuming I'm
a person worth being, and I like to think I mostly am, I think you've
all done a good job of changing me for the better.
Remember the high school lunch table? Remember Boston? Remember
graduation? And Miss Wrye's nonsense? And ACTSA? And freshman year?
Remember Chen's? And all those summers of Marvin Center Glory? Remember
My Corruption? And adventures in absurdity? Remember my birthday
parties? And the Fourth of July? And Flag Football? And Front Page
Underage? And Madhatter? And moving... everyone moving? Remember
Shrubbery With A Kick and IHOP? Remember meeting again when we hadn't
in years? Remember how wonderful it is to live it up - to be young and
alive and kicking life's ass? Remember how, no matter what, Real
Friends pull through? Remember the wicked hard times? Remember how
great the not-so-hard times felt afterwards?
I'm so grateful for all I've had, all I've been, and all I've achieved.
I totally couldn't have done it without support. So thank you.
Woke up to the sound of pouring rain
The wind would whisper and I'd think of you
And all the tears you cried, that called my name
And when you needed me I came through
I paint a picture of the days gone by
When love went blind and you would make me see
I'd stare a lifetime into your eyes
So that I knew you were there for me
Time after time you were there for me
Remember yesterday - walking hand in hand
Love letters in the sand - I remember you
Through the sleepless nights and every endless day
I'd wanna hear you say - I remember you
We spend the summer with the top rolled down
Wished ever after would be like this
You said I love you babe, without a sound
I said I'd give my life for just one kiss
I'd live for your smile and die for your kiss
Remember yesterday - walking hand in hand
Love letters in the sand - I remember you
Through the sleepless nights and every endless day
I'd wanna hear you say - I remember you
We've had our share of hard times
But that's the price we paid
And through it all we kept the promise that we made
I swear you'll never be lonely
Woke up to the sound of pouring rain
Washed away a dream of you
But nothing else could ever take you away
'Cause you'll always be my dream come true
Oh my darling, I love you
Remember yesterday - walking hand in hand
Love letters in the sand - I remember you
Through the sleepless nights and every endless day
I'd wanna hear you say - I remember you
Remember yesterday - walking hand in hand
Love letters in the sand - I remember you
Through the sleepless nights and every endless day
I'd wanna hear you say - I remember you
