Wednesday
Same as Monday
Thursday
just genetics (done at 10:45)
Friday
just composition and religion (done at 3:30)
composition is a lot like my intro philosophy course, most of the texts are philosophical, just with more of an emphasis on how you write than what you write (total workload - four or five 4-6 page papers, one 10 page research paper). NA religions should be a piece of cake, typical honors course, one objective test one brief essay and one take-home final (ie show up, don't be a dumbass, get an A). genetics should be alright, they post stuff on webct, the text is decent, and there's no comprehensive final (4 tests, and a few quizzes the second half of the semester). environmental ethics is going to be fascinating, and not too bad to get through (two 10-12 page papers, and an objective final, which she said should be easy as long as you keep up). creative writing should kick ass (dr mcknight is amazing, SO intelligent and has won numerous awards and is just laid back and fun) and should also kick MY ass (so much writing, wants us to end the semester with something publishable... did i mention i basically NEVER write fiction?) but that's what i need, i need to write a lot and i need to write fiction, if i ever want to make any money with this. creative writing is the only one where i feel i may be in over my head, but what else can i do? have to just throw myself in the deep end, hopefully i don't sink.
met with dr williams today, just basically chatted it up, he's going to read my application and proposal for my creative writing IDS and get back to me. other than that, not a lot was accomplished, accept him bolstering my ego and making me feel slightly better about my decision to (attempt to) become a writer in some professional sense. after that i had an hour or so before class, so i went up to starbucks, got a coffee and a wheat bagel, and plunked down to read some religion and review some of the republic for composition this morning. let me tell you, i felt so college. i guess i should have been loyal to the athens community and gone to one of the independent coffee shops, but... it was a further walk. any extra exertion in this humidity makes me lose about a pound of water weight through perspiration. i'll support the local economy when it cools off.
