If anyone is reading this before 10:00 a.m., you might want to listen to CBC 1 at that time. They are replaying a Go episode hosted by Lister Sinclair. It is a program on the masterpieces of disco.
Even if you don't know who Lister Sinclair is, it's still hilarious as well as actually insightful. He bases a lot of it on this essay called something like "The Empire of the Beat", and he doesn't really get into it, but a major premiss in that essay is that the "disco sucks" phenomenon was fueled in large part by homophobia -- which makes more sense the more you think about it.
