You should’ve known better.
You should’ve walked him back, made sure he was alright.
Fuck, you should’ve taken him with you, Daphne be damned!
You shouldn’t... shouldn’t have given in to him.
He would’ve gotten over it soon enough. He knows you, after all.
He would’ve smiled, just like that first night, when you embarrassed him in front of the dykes (And then you cracked a joke and he knew it was for him)...
He would’ve kept coming back, stalking you, demanding your attention, challenging you...
He wouldn’t have been attacked, hurt... and bleeding right now... if you hadn’t come.

That was great! I think that you totally nailed exactly what Brian was thinking after Justin got bashed.

Thank you! I usually fastforward this scene, it's so painful... But then I read your drabble and I couldn't shake it, I kept thinking about Brian being brave at last, and how the world proved to him that he should have stayed in his safety zone... and how I'd probably blame myself, too, if I thought that sb else paid with their life for me taking risk. I just had to write it down, for my own sanity.

Oh, Brian totally blamed himself for what happened. And, IMO, not just in the "it wouldn't have happened if I hadn't danced with Justin" kind of way, but in a totally fucked up, "I don't deserve to be loved" kind of way. Like, in his mind, Justin getting injured was some kind of cosmic punishment for the fact that he had the nerve to let himself believe he might be able to have love. (Makes me want to re-animate his evil bastard father just so I can kill him again!)

I am still taking challenges, and I really do plan to try to write something for each of them. Just don't hold your breath waiting -- I got five challenges (yours will make six -- unless you give me more than one!) and I've only been able to finish one of them so far. But I have started on a couple of the others. What I'm saying is that I probably will write whatever you ask for, but it might not get finished anytime soon.

Anyway, just read my post here and post as many challenges as you can think of that fit my rules.

Yeah, his parents really did a number on him... it's actually quite impressive he's functional at all.
