I sat on the toilet and looked at it. I originally thought it was some blob of dirt but I had now learned it wasn’t, although I wasn’t sure what it was.
It must be a tick. The tick was coming to get me. I put some folded toilet tissue on it and stamped down hard and then looked at it. It was still there; still alive and crawling towards me, undeterred. It wanted my blood. The little fucker wasn’t going to get any.
I wiped as fast as I could, never taking my eye off the menacing black dot. I stood up and brought my trainer down on it. I stared hard and it still crawled towards me. It still wasn’t dead. I couldn’t kill it. Its body was flat and thin, its legs were small but all eight pushed it closer to me. I flushed the toilet and pushed the tip of my trainer on to it, trying so hard to end the fuckers life. Push it into the carpet. Smear its insides. It was no use. I washed my hands and ran upstairs.
