I am debating the name of a secondary villain. It's hard to explain his situation exactly without going deep into the mythology of the story, but I'll try to give a simplified version. He's something called a Shadow that bonds to a human at puberty. He was born in the Victoria Era, and bonded to a butler's daughter named Minnie. As Shadows do, he took on the appearance of her fantasy man--Heathcliffesque, moody and broody. This is what he looks like:
What would Minnie have named him?
- Edward--my first thought. Seems to fit him very well. However, he later becomes a vampire (Shadow gone bad), and the world can only handle so many vampires named Edward.
- Byron--apropos, but too obvious? Minnie wasn't a subtle person, but that doesn't mean I should look like an idiot.
- Nathaniel--to me it seems appropriately dark and Victorian. Main problem is that the name he takes as a vampire is Samael, and the two sort of rhyme. But is that as much a problem as I think?
All opinions and alternate suggestions welcome!
Edit: One vote (Mom) for Nathaniel.
