I was just reading through my results of the Elemental Balance test again and a line stuck out at me this time.
Your colours are azure, indigo, and a bright yellow or gold.
Now I know why the colors I started with didn't work on the blue dragon, I was unconsciously guided by my "personality" colors. If you look closely he is painted azure with a gold belly and antiqued in indigo.
