Nothing cuts you deeper than "To the kinder world" in "DanDaDan"

Don't watch it.

Japanese story telling is quite exquisite. I am kinda falling for their artistic intuitions. Even with outrageous themes, they sometimes find the emotional turmoil that can just wreck havoc inside. To the kinder world episode from DanDaDan anime (or manga comics) is the most difficult and heart breaking episodes to watch. It shatters everything inside. And possibly I could feel that because of numerous incidents that either I have witnessed in person or through learned through third person.

I used to buy few grocery items from KB Fairprice outlet at HP Petrol Pump near Linking Road - SV Road junction in bandra during 2006/7. Among support staff there was a single parent (mother) who used to bring her daughter to that outlet during her working hours  The girl was quite naive, innocent and full of energy. She would run around and find something to play with. One of the occasion, I bought a chocolate bar and gave it to her. Her mother was very scared and kept refusing So I just left the bar at the desk and left. Next time when I went there to buy something, I witnessed the outlet owner slapping the little girl when he found her running around. I left from there without making any purchase. Next time I went there, neither one was there. Left again without any purchase. That was the last time I entered that shop.

I am ashamed of my cowardice that I didn't fight with the outlet owner when he slapped that little girl. I am also ashamed of how I couldn't do anything for the two then and possibly others in tough spot even now. I can't understand what makes one shout at or hit anyone. And that too to a child?! Money is such a horrible vice creating so much disparity in the society which we accept without ever questioning anything back? How are we okay in glorifying the rich and abusing of poor? Why is this shitty money the benchmark, the driving force for people to turn into monsters?

Wishing for empathy and compassion seems like a distant dream at times. And yet I don't want to give up on that hope that humans of tomorrow would be better than those of yesterday.
