The good person

I had told one friend that I won't be switching on compie for next two days. But then temptation of writing down a thought, an appreciation for someone lead me to rolling my fingers across the keyboard.

There were two incidents and multiple observations that I feel an urge to share. This person is a thorough gentleman. But more than that he is very good at heart. And to me, that matters the most. The two incidents are as follows -
1st incident
We were going to some place for meeting. While we were discussing about the discussion points, this person suddenly asked me:
Him: Did you see that?
Me: What?
Him: There was a dead dog in the middle of the footpath and people are walking over it without keeping him aside.
Me: Oh! (not knowing how to react to this because I didn't find it unusual myself)

I did talk about this incident with another close colleague of mine and we did feel a sense of respect for his words. Of course, I maintained the skepticism in me if he would have moved that dead dog aside if he was walking on the footpath himself. Words were great but actions awaited convictions.

2nd incident
It was diwali day. I haven't had a great time with this person in the previous week. We had some differences in opinion about certain things that were going on in office. But my earlier neighbours had taught me that festivals are the times to forget past and open up to each other once again. So while I was exchanging greetings with everyone in the apartment, I went to his room. He wasn't at home. Asked ma'am where can I find him. She told me he is downstairs. I thought probably he has gone for bursting crackers. Went downstairs and found that he was just standing there amidst cloudy air and noisy environment. And no crackers in hand, pocket anywhere.
Me: How come you are downstairs right now?
Him: It's for him (he pointed me to one dog who was hiding beneath the post box cabinet at our apartment).
Me: What happened?
Him: Well, dogs have sensitive ears and they feel like someone is shooting them when they hear noise of crackers.
Me: Oh! (But this time it was in awe of him. He surely proved himself on certain benchmark I was having for him in my mind.)

We talked for quite some time before I left from there. I think he stayed back for an hour more.

Later that week I was remembering all the good things he taught me. Sometimes directly, sometimes indirectly. One important lesson that we all have right to disagree but we should not stop respecting each other. Life is not about "my way or the highway" thing. Nothing should make you lose compassion for everyone around you. Breathe easy, live easy.

I do wish best for him :)
