I had a great birthday. It was a traditionally low-key affair. Dinner with the fam, drinks with friends. I'm a pretty simple guy so a big deal is not really my style. I would just feel embarrassed should people go to great lengths to celebrate millions of cells deteriorating. I'm glad I wasn't employed at the time, work birthdays are the worst. There's always the people older than you who don't care or people younger than you that make you feel bad just by being there.

Speaking of work, I find out about a couple of contracts here in town and one permanent job in Toronto this week. Secretly, I'm rooting for an Ottawa contract so I can travel when it ends and avoid the winter. Also the whole settling down and establishing some roots would be good too. Did those last two things cancel each other out? I think I'm a little conflicted here. Is it restless or rudderless?

I think when I move out I'm going to see how long I go without TV. I've learned to live without alot of material trappings since I left Vancouver (internet and laptop not withstanding). I must remember to not be one of those turds who constantly reminds people how much better they are than people who have TV.

Besides, there are so many other things I can hold over people's head to prove I'm better than them...

ha, just kidding!
