Someday...

when I'm awfully low...
when the world is cold...
I will feel a glow just thinking of you...
and the way you look, tonight...

yes you're lovely, with your smile so warm
and your cheeks so soft,
There is nothing for me but to love you,
And the way you look, tonight...

With each word, your tenderness grows...
Tearing my fear apart...
and that laugh that wrinkles your nose,
It touches my foolish heart.

Lovely, never ever change...
Keep that breathless charm.
Won't you please arrange it?
'coz I love you... just the way you look tonight...

This is one of those songs that never fail to grab my attention, and make me smile. Upon first encountering it in my dad's vast array of classic cds, I fell in love with it immediately for the romance that it embodied. Then years later, when I found myself in a relationship, I found myself being able to identify with the song - as though the song were written by me for that one special girl who continues to make my heart beat.

They say the only permanent thing in life is change - that change is inevitable - that the only way to progress is to forget. They say the only way to grow, is to first rot, then sow your seeds again to make them bear fruit. People frown upon this thing called love 'coz it can cause you sooooo much hurt, soooo much unbearable pain, and unfathomable heartache; however, some or most people find the beauty in it 'coz it bequeaths you with soooo much joy, something unparalleled, a little below an understatement of what media and your initial perception of it generates - a joy that nothing in this world can ever tantamount.

I'm one of the sappiest romantics in the world - and I believe love can conquer all. Amidst tribulation, I believe love can move mountains so as long as you believe that these mountains can be moved - that love can make miracles so as long as you believe that these can come true. But why is it that reality always has this way of twisting things - that love and its intricacies has the ability to ruin everything when things are going your way? Is love like a rosary with many mysteries? Is love realy like oxygen such that all you need is love? Is love like a drug that gives you a sensation, only to destroy you in the long run? Is love a many-splendored thing?

Love is spat upon by cynics; love is defended by those who have encountered it in their lives; love is condemned by those who had a shot at it but wasn't able to sustain it; love is dreamed of by those who have never encountered it; love is worked for by those who wish to sustain it; love is sought again and again by those who had a taste of what it is to love and be loved in return. But despite the category we classify ourselves into, we all basically dream of true love - and once we've found it, we try our best to hold onto it - and we try our best to make it happen every single day of our lives.

I am, and forever will be the sappy romantic, and I believe in this thing called "love." And if there's one thing that I have, it's hope - hope amidst the overwhelming odds. I believe in this thing called "love." Do you?
