We have a very sick kitty on our hands. :(
When we left yesterday for the NYE party at
lethie and
johnath's, I knew she wasn't feeling right. She hadn't seemed to be eating properly, and she had a bit of an issue with a bowel movement before we left. I felt bad because I felt like I should drop everything and take her to the vet, but she really didn't seem that bad, so I convinced myself I was being paranoid and went to the party as planned.
Came back early this afternoon, and she hadn't eaten or drank anything, hadn't used her box, and there were a couple of throw-up spots on the carpet. I tried to give her a bit of water by dotting it on her nose, and we had a couple more throw-up spots five minutes later. So we packed her right up and took her to the emergency clinic right away. (Josh came with me and stayed with us the whole time. I love my husband so much. <3 )
Seven hours and $700 later, all we know is that she's dehydrated (thanks for the memo), and that the x-rays and blood work came back fine. This is good, because she doesn't appear to have a bowel obstruction of any kind, which would be a much more serious concern. However, despite the fact that we told the vet that she's had urinary issues in the past that have resulted in similar issues, they opted not to perform a urinalysis. This made me VERY GRUMPY.
They did give her some subcutaneous fluids, though, which will get her through the night with some hydration, and I'll be taking her to her regular vet (who will actually care and do the right tests) first thing in the morning. Wish us luck. :( I feel very bad for my poor, miserable kitty. I really hope everything's okay.
