All right. Things we've learned this week:

  • Beating people up is wrong.
  • Shaking hands can lead to false memories when you're faced with someone like Barron Sharpe.
  • Revisiting your childhood isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Spring has started out with a bang, hasn't it?

Nice job with the accusations there. You don't even know what happened.

Enlighten me.

So, how about this. You're in your cabin. You're minding your own business. Then someone attacks you. You get a concussion. A broken wrist. Which is pretty bad, to say the least. But then you find out that your warden has decided that none of your friends are "real" friends. He says that you've changed their memory, which is complete crap. It's disappointing how everyone just buys into whatever Prefect decides to make up.

Okay. How about this? I barely know you. I don't talk to Prefect much. And I have no proof that you altered people's memories or that you didn't.

So at best, I'm undecided.

Yeah, your post looks so undecided. Thanks for that.

Keep up with the conversation. I'm talking about right now. You just gave me a reason to doubt. Can you prove it?

Do you really think I'd be stupid enough to change the memory of so many people? You can't even imagine what that would do to my brain.

You're right, I can't. What would it do?

It's the blowback, obviously. [He still hasn't caught onto the fact that not everyone knows about his magic system.]

And the blowback is...? [TEACHING TIME, BARRON.]

When you use magic. Bad things happen to you. Blowback. A death worker uses his power. He could lose a finger. Or he could die, if he's unlucky. Blow. Back.

Is magic common where you're from? That happens to everybody?

Everyone with 'magic', obviously. I can't believe that you seriously don't know this. Just because working is illegal doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.

...Has anyone given you the 'from different universes' talk yet?

sharpememory April 12 2011, 11:25:32 UTC
Yeah. I'm not stupid enough to buy it.

You might want to rethink that. It's actually a completely valid theory where I'm from, though I think the number of parallel universes was seriously underestimated at home...
