Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone - J. K. Rowling This is the first book for this year that I've read before and I deliberately sought out to read again. (A couple of the plays I read for my Theater class I had read before, but they were required for the class.) I really love this series and I will be reading the rest of the trilogy right away. It seemed appropriate to read right now because the reason the main character ends up singing crystal is because she leaves her career as a musician. Even though her reasons for changing are pretty different from mine it's still nice to read and I love reading anything where music is important anyway. The second book is better than the first for the same reason Spiderman 2 and X-Men 2 were better than the original movies. No time needs to be spent on exposition, introducing characters and explaining how this universe works, you can just get right down to the story. I actually read these books before any of the Pern ones, but that reminds me I've been meaning to read more of the dragon stories.
