today is august 15th, which means for many of you, myself included, there is only about 2 weeks left until school starts again
time sure did fly
i had a really great week at camp and im glad that i went again. i got the youngest kids again but it was alright, i enjoyed meeting the new ones and reconnecting with ones ive known from before. im getting better at being an authority figure and keeping order. and ive also become that much more experienced and knowledgeable so i can teach them more effectively. im hoping to be granted more responsibility next year.
the talent show this week was the best ive ever seen, and everyone agreed. all the skits were really funny and creative and im glad that it turned out that way, because sometimes theyre a complete bust. even the counselors did skits, and they were really great as well. one of them consisted of poking fun at all the 1st and 2nd year staff. i liked getting zinged. it made me feel like i truly belonged.
anyways, overall a great week, but i was disappointed to not be able to have gone for 5 weeks, and i let this be known to father phil before i left. im sick of never telling people how i feel, so i gathered my courage and let him know how much i was really upset by what happened. he didnt offer much reassurance, but said that he would continue to keep in mind my commitment to the camp, since everything i did this year was volunteer, and the fact that i was honest and open with him. i dont know what good that would do since he picks counselors to come at random, but all i can do is try my best and cross my fingers for next year.
after camp i went to andoni's house and spent the night there. a good time as always. he's now obsessed with "say it aint so", and im proud.
so now i while away the last days of summer, slaving away for some last few pennies, with a couple trips thrown in here and there for good measure.
