Endlessly searching for something to satisfy my Mario Galaxy cravings, I stumbled on
Frozzd, a rather simple and fun indie game wherein a lost astronaut leads warm and fuzzy aliens against the threat of the Frozzd empire.
The whole universe is freezing...
...but, luckily, hot chocolate is an abundant natural resource around these parts.
It's a very short game, so it didn't take me long to defeat King Frozzd and get a
perfect score on every level. There's still something missing before I can say I'm done with it, though...
I beg your pardon...?
The fuzzy aliens (the Mubblies) initially communicate in an unknown language, but their king soon realizes that the astronaut has no idea what's being said and starts speaking English. Messages in the Mubbly alphabet are very consistent and I'd bet that the game's author used a simple substitution cipher in their writing.
A warm and incomprehensible welcome.
Curiously, there'a a couple of screens that employ the Mubbly alphabet in the GUI. I was a bit disappointed when the game didn't give me some sort of "dictionary" after beating all the stages (the way
Aquaria does). Of course, I'm now scanning these messages for patterns that will help me unlock the mysteries of the Mubbly alphabet...
