Going out of town for a couple of days, did crude hack to handle MythTV database disconnects

Remember my MythTV MySQL problem? I never figured out a proper fix, recompiling MythTV and doing a full reinstall of MySQL after deleting old configs didn't fix it. I just pulled a nasty hack to hopefully keep it running while I'm on the road, I setup cron jobs to kill and restart the backend shortly after 3:00 AM AND PM.

What sucks is this worked perfectly up until I started playing with SQL over a month ago, that's why I fully killed the config and started over. I think I know what I want to do to actually fix it though. Fry's Electronics sells crappy systems for a little over $100 nearly every weekend. I've got a 300 GB HDD in this system dedicated to MythTV. I think I'll buy one of those crappy systems, up the RAM, put my 300GB drive in and make it a dedicated MythTV unit. That will get the TV card out of my desktop, freeing up a PCI slot. ( as you can see they're all full) hook it up to my TV, and run a front end on my main desktop only when I want to watch from my desk. I think getting it on a fresh system will fix the database errors outright, and it will allow me to turn my power hungry desktop off. Not to mention most of these cheapassed systems from Fry's run AMD Geode processors that use less power. Toss in an A-Open power supply that only spins the fan when it needs to like I put in my grandparents system it should run cool and quiet.

Well, I'm off, catch ya'll later. I may have hotel access, I may not, either way, later.

BTW, just added a MythTV tag, I'll go back and re-tag the old post later.
