Rooted a Nook this past week. I'll clear some things up if you want to do it yourself.

I was given a $50 Barnes and Noble gift card for Christmas, so I decided to use it on something I could hack.

I went to Barnes and Noble on Monday and plopped down my gift card and an extra $35 for a Nook Simple Touch. I chose this device because it's rather cheap, is notoriously easy to pwn and actually has good reasons to be pwned

interesting - I hadn't really thought about rooting my simple touch - I knew that many people rooted the color b&n table, but didn't realize people were rooting the dedicated ereaders too.

I've been playing with it more recently. Rooting it does drain the battery quicker, since extra tasks are running. I'm stipping out extra tasks and trying to get the bare minimums for the other two book readers to run now. I don't even want Opera or most of the other popular stuff, just the three readers, and I'll leave the calculator since it doesn't affect the battery and may come in handy.

Just out of curiosity - wouldn't it be easier to just convert all your books into the same format, rather than having to manage 3 different readers?
