I decided to bike in today and yesterday, not as bad as I expected, sure the really crappy construction of Houston area roads was an issue, but overall not too bad. I made it all the way to NASA parkway before I had an issue (also the first and only bike lane along the whole route, go figure).
Yep. Dumbass box truck driver IN THE BICYCLE LANE. Not only that, but he came up on me like that and it got worse when he got closer to me.
When I got ahead of him at the light and I turned around to take his picture it didn't get any better, he kept on doing it!
Finally he pulled into Cuisine of India, I stopped to get a picture of his license plate, he apologized and said he didn't know he wasn't supposed to be in that lane? If he didn't know he has no business driving. They told us about bike lanes in drivers ed and Pecos didn't have a single bike lane anywhere to worry about. I'm pretty sure "not running cyclist into the curb with a box truck" pretty much qualifies as common courtesty ANYWHERE on the globe.
I still don't know what he was trying to pull with this curb grind, but he actually started pissing off other automotive traffic behind him.
I just used the web form on his employers web site to contact them. Had it been a quick little screw up that had been one thing, but the guy just kept on.
UPDATE
The company that owns the truck emailed me back and asked for the pictures. That was last Friday, I emailed them on Saturday, they've never said anything else, but it's been done.
Another Update:
I'm throwing in a
map link so you can get an idea of how far the back and forth with this asshole lasted and where. Not that anyone actually cares. For some reason last time I clicked that the route inverted, for your reference it was from Highway 3 to Cuisine India, if it's inverted hit the swap button on the route.
