I just started my new job working in St. Joseph Mercy hospital in Ann Arbor last week and its goin sweet. I love the hospital, which is good cuz I want people calling me dr. Slupek someday. One thing I don't want to see myself doing is walking around at a 100 miles an hour with my head down though, I have seen a lot of them doing that and I really noticed it after a co-worker made fun of them walking around the office like it too.
Another thing that came to mind for some reason was the rising obesity of our country and especially our state. We need to take the wheels off. Yes, this is the answer to all of our problems with obesity. It's not just the fatty foods. McDonald's and Burger King, and all the burger joints have been around forever along with something called SUGAR. The reason why people back in the day were so thin was because they didn't have so many wheels on things.
You see back in the day people had to carry a lot of things around by themselves. They didn't have the genius guy who thought, "why not put wheels on this bag so I don't have to drag it all around the airport and everywhere else with me. People got a very good workout and had to be in good shape if they were going to get those huge trunks of clothes on and off the train, bus, plain, and boat.
I was reading in the newspaper the other day that obesity is one of the more leading causes of death and is rising in children. We need to take the wheels off. Do you know why its rising in children? It's not just because they are eating too much fast food while their mom is working the night shift. It's because their mom bought them that stupid backpack with the damn wheels. What kind of exercise are the kids going to get if they just have to tote there back behind them when they walk home from school everyday. Zero!
I know that it's not because of the wheels, but really we have to stop blaming everything on the food. We need to take off the wheels too.
