This is my first entry in 1 year, 1 week and 1 day. If you're still there - HELLO!
Anyway, today LiveJournal kindly sent me an automated message reminding me that my paid account would automatically renew in three days. If you read the first line in this entry, you'll probably understand why the first thing I did upon reading that was to turn automatic payments off.
That's it - I'm letting my LJ account die.
This doesn't really make a big difference, since I have barely logged in recently, and the only reason I had renewed my paid account the last 2 or 3 times was that I had uploaded some pictures from my time at Berkeley that I'm not 100% positive I have a readily-available back-up elsewhere. I have now FINALLY downloaded those (thanks, LiveJournal, for NOT having made that process any easier, BTW) so there's no reason why I should keep paying.
The fact that I don't use LJ anymore has nothing to do with LJ drama or anything the LJ staff has ever [not] done. It's simply that I'm not that much into blogging any more. Besides, there's only two or three people here that I was still following, and I'm still in touch with them through Facebook.
So many things have changed since I started blogging in 2002 (I moved to LJ in 2004). I've graduated. I've lived in all sorts of places. I'm married now! I have a full-time job doing what I've wanted to do since I was 19 or so! All sorts of good stuff has happened and is still happening to me (this would be the time to touch wood, I guess), and I still want to share all of it with my friends. It's just that I no longer want or feel the urge to do so through blogging - public or private. And that's really all there is to it.
Now, if you want to get in touch with me, you have several options:
* You can find me on Facebook. It's fairly easy to find me there - maybe it's too easy, actually.
* You can email me. If you have any of my @gmail.com addresses, that should work. Unless Gmail decides your message is spam and I forget to check my spam folder or whatever.
* You can use your imagination! I can think of several more different ways you could find me.
You won't be able to comment on this entry though. I just don't want to have to deal with LJ again. I guess I'll come back at some point in the next few months/years to see if I can download all my entries so I can re-read them when I'm 84, but that's about it.
Bye now! See you elsewhere!
