This is a comment said from a alumni...I look at it this way...there is a difference between a lie and keeping your personal private. In the Constitution was have that right to privacy. The government can not come into our bedrooms and house for any reason(almost any) and find out what our sexual preference is.
As far as the military...there are people out there who would be classified as homophobes. They may have an issue with that person in the work place which than could jeopardize the mission they involved in.
