Drunken Unicorn 9/19 & Official AWA Report

Sep 25, 2008 07:28

I'm going to put these two posts together because I dont wanna spam anyone with my Rock and Roll Partying. Plus they happened at the same time. So it's easier to go chronologically.

So I got out of class Friday around 1, it could have been earlier but our prof insisted on an hour lunch break that none of us needed. So I made my way down 41 to the Galleria and met my mom. Yeah, I seriously live like 10 mins away from the Galleria. We stood in the Pre-Reg line for a little more than an hour. We walked throguh the dealer's room, got our official (and really cute) AWA shirts. Peelander-Z was there! I was really suprised because they weren't supposed to be at AWA this year. So I got my picture with them and was pretty happy. P.Yellow remembered me from D-Con, he was all like "HEYYYYYYY you!" haha sexy shirt. Seeing them there had a major influence on my final decision to go to the concert. Anyway, I bought another Kiva figure >_>. This one's just regular Kiva. So now I have Garuru Saber version and regular Kiva version. I wish I had Emperor form.

My mom and I went and ate at Jock and Jills, our fav AWA eats. I had a pizza, and it was reallllllly good going down. I even said that it was like the best thing I had eaten in over a week. We couldn't decide on anything in the program book that we wanted to do for the rest of the day, so we went back to the hotel to hang out. I got a lot of work done. My mom was going to my sister's football game that night so we were waiting for that. I had been really torn the whole week about whether or not I should go see Peelander-Z at the drunken unicorn. But I started thinking, I had my dad's Garmin, concert>sucky AHS football, I really love Peelander, and I would get to see everyone else too, plus... it's a concert outside of AWA, and those are always much better because the crowd actually knows wtf is going on. So I decided that I was going to go to the Japan Noodle Tour concert.

I did not get lost on my way to the Drunken Unicorn. I paid my $10 and they drew huge Xs on my hands with permanent marker so that I couldn't drink. I got up in the front of the crowd, on the left side of the stage. The first band was quaff. I've never heard of them before, but I thought I knew what to expect when I saw them. They seriously look like Diru wannabes. But they're not. They're way happier and more energetic. It was a lot of fun and I was impressed. I hope that I eventually get to see them again sometime.

Next up was The Emeralds. We all remember that I don't like The Emeralds even though they are supersexy, right? Well... they were good. They were really good. I really liked it. That's right. I like The Emeralds now. I dont know if they got better or if I got more insane, but I like them now. It was a lot different from when I saw them a year ago and they really impressed me. I got really into it.

After The Emeralds played, it was The Captains. I love the fucking Captains, man. We parapara-ed and OMG-ed and it was great. They are so much fun. Thats why I decided to wear my Captains shirt the next day and stuff. I love The Captains. They played BAN BAN BAN, which I love. They didn't play it the next night, that's why I mention it.

Anyway, next was Tsushimamire. I remember them from when I saw them two years ago. I love that stupid Tea Time Ska song. Mostly I've found them annoying and hard to listen to. But I was also mega-impressed by how great they were. Of course the bassist and the drummer are fucking awesome, that's what I said two years ago. But the vo/guitarist girl did actually make me like her this year. What did she do that was so impressive? Well all the guys in the crowd pushed to the front for Tsushimamire (duh), and she gets to this song and shes like "my dream is to fly!" so she climbs out into the crowd and these guys are holding her up, and they are totally molesting her. No joke, there is tons of molestation going on there. But she is still playing her guitar and singing. That is pretty damn awesome. The members of the other bands thought it was pretty damn awesome too, you should have seen the look on P.Green's face, man. By the way, I'm in love with Peelander Green. But besides that, Tsushimamire has a new Powerpuff Girls themed CD, and the Mojo Jojo song is fucking awesome. I wish I had had the chance to buy the cd. So now I have four songs of theirs that I can tolerate. Awesome. Tea Time is still my favorite, though.

Finally it was Peelander's turn. They played the same set list as D*Con, but I totally didn't mind. I love Ninja High School and I was really happy to be able to hear it again. The stage at the Drunken Unicorn is really small, so they couldn't pull people on stage like they normally do, so they passed out the "instruments" into the crowd instead. They climbed around on the ceiling and stuff, P.Green dropped straight down from the ceiling into the crowd (read as: extreme bravery). They even moved the drums out into the audience at one point and they played out in the middle of the room. Human bowling, What a Health, Peelander Titanic, ect. All you would expect from Peelander-Z. I got pulled on stage by P.Pink at the end to dance.

I made a friend, a girl and her parents stood beside me during a large majority of the night and we had fun. I got back to the hotel at 2, smelling horribly like cigarettes, to discover that I forgot to pack PJs and the hotel was fucking cold. The next day I couldn't hear and my voice wasn't doing so good.

I dragged my mom and sister (we obtained my sister) to the Sentai marathon. They only made it through one (the last) ep of Garo before they were done. We walked arund the dealers room and the Artists Alley killing time. Saw The Captains and bugged them for their cool new shirts. Also got their new CD, which I'll share with you at the bottom of this post. Kizuhiko was all "I am really happy to see you." which is not an answer to "aren't you tired?" but it doesn't matter. I was tired, that's for damn sure.

We went and had lunch at PF Changs. I had some really yum Moo Goo Gai Pan and Tiramisu.

Then my mom went to the AMVs (she loves AMVs) and J-lee and I went to the Happee Peelander Party. Peelander was there and I got a signed poster of them. They answered questions and stuff. Then we challenged them to games of Twister and it was halarious stuff. There was cake and candy and stuff. I made lots of friends, a couple of whom I recognized from the concert the night before. We had fun with balloons. It was a really great party. Peelander is crazy. P.Yellow's voice was really scratchy though, and I was glad I wasn't the only one with that condition.

After that J-lee met up with my mom for AMVs, and I went to the JDrama panel. She showed clips and talked, now I've finished Gakko Ja Oshirenai and I'm in the middle of Seiji no Mikata because of it.

I eventually found my mom and sister and we went back to the hotel. I was reallllllllly worn out. I watched some X-Family until Kiva came on. I was watching Kiva and then my mom and sister decided to go get food. So I missed the last half of Kiva, but I got some KFC snackers. I got to videochat with Lil, so I saw the baby until it started crying.

We left to go to the concert. The line was already pretty long, but I didn't entirely care. I had seen everyone the night before. We got a spot a couple of people away from the stage, on the right. But it was my friends from the Peelander party, so it was all good. Eventually I did work my way up to one person from the stage. There are a lot of people that go to the concert at AWA and have no idea who anyone is or what's going on. I don't mind, but do you have to stand at the front? T_T

Bchan came out and was giving us lessons, apparently we were Rock and Roll High School. But our first lesson was straight out of Wild Zero and that made me wayyyy too happy and it restored all of my energy.

The first band to play was The Emeralds, who still rocked it. So I was happy that they impressed me two nights in a row and I do officially like The Emeralds now. I already knew all of their songs anyway, it just takes seeing them live again. I think that maybe they have gotten much better. It was great and we did Saturday Night RnR Party, Talk about Love, ect, ect, ect.

Then was Tsushimamire, who was not as crazy as the night before. They began with their really annoying, very weak songs. Most of the audience left. I understand their feelings, I was dissapointed there for a while. But then they did a lot of their really good stuff at the end all at once and made up for it.

Then we had The Captains, who did a lot more songs than the night before and it was REALLY great! I was in front of Hisashi this time, and that boy is insane. He really makes the experience a lot more crazy than it is when you're in front of Ted. Not that I dont love Ted, I love Ted but he's not parapara man. So we danced and rocked out and it was fantabulous. Kizu did his whole fainting from too much love thing and Hisashi did hiw whole OMG thing, and it was AWA so they played up the whole anime thing again. I really prefer seeing them when they're not at con. But it was still great!

Went back to the hotel room and uploaded pics and then passed out.

Sunday I was soooooo tired. We went to the dealers room and stocked up on earrings and pocky. Wandered around the Artists Alley for a while. We went back out to the cars and I said byebye to my mom and sister and drove home. Somehow I ended up on the connector, but I got on 75 and came up to my exit, that was still only 10 mins. I am really glad I didn't get lost. I was tired and had no voice.

So I'm going to share my new Captains CD, since I love them so much. You have to promise to buy it if you ever see them. Haha. It's called I ♥ GS, which is soooo very The Captains. You know you want this.
