So the electricity just came back on. By just, I mean three minutes ago. It's been off since four. Four in the morning. We have water!!!!
The whole story from My Perspective:
My parents were in Memphis...
I didn't go to sleep last night until around one. I was then awoken at 2:30 by thunderstorms. I've been kinda anxious about storms since the whole big-tree incident a while ago and couldn't shake the bad feeling. So I got up and went downstairs to my parent's room to watch the weather channel. There's a tornado warning and the guy's talking away and talking away and then he goes "Oh yeah, if your county has a tornado warning, take it VERY SERIOUSLY. People are dying." Soooooo that just freaked me out more (Its 2:40 in the morning, damnit. Im allowed to be insane at that time.) and I woke up my sister and forced her to come downstairs to sleep. I couldn't sleep because I was too paranoid (and cold). Around 4, the storm REALLY picked up. The electricity went out. I woke up my sister and I paced around for a while. The wind, thunder, and lighting were all really bad. It finally died down around 4:45 and I let my sister go back to sleep. When I was fully confident that the storm was over, I managed to sleep a little. Got up at 6:30 when the dog wanted to go out. Still no electricity, played Monopoly and Jenga. Went for a drive to see how bad it was, and it was bad. Rewarded myself for being so damn scared with a cookie dough pie at burger king. Came home and played dominoes for three hours. Was bored until parents finally came home, equipped with power generator. Put together generator, dad is bitchy. Went to get grandma for mothers day, Carrollton also has no power- no restaurants there are open. Went to Douglasville, where apparently nothing fucking happened at all and had dinner at Fabiano's. Came home and was reading a book by flashlight with my mom when the power came back at 8:45pm. Thank god, my sister has been going fucking insane because she couldnt play GTA4.
Damage Assesments- Home:
Mystery brances in the backyard. Not sure which trees these could have come from.
Twig and leaf litter in the front yard.
No electricity=no water. There was no electricity. We had no idea what was going on.
Damage Assesments- Neighbors and Immediate Surrounding Area:
My friend Drew's dad is a cop. Their house was impaled by a tree, and one tree fell on top of all three of their cars.
Post Road from St Andrews to 166 is a mess. There were tangeled power lines everywhere, houses hit by trees, trees down across power lines, trees down everywhere.
Hannah Road was terrible- trees down everywhere, not an inch of the road was spared, there were even power lines across the road in several places. The place was completely trashed.
Carrollton- No electricity. Happy Mother's Day.
Channel2 helicopters were flying over my house all day.
The Actual Story:
