Today... I made a new animal friend. He was a raccoon. And I've decided to name him Thomas.
Let me tell you my tale now:
So I was walking back from orchestra tonight and it was really windy and I was really just focused on getting home. So as I'm charging towards Jester, my fingers half-frozen, I pass by that foresty park place across the street from the football stadium... and I notice that I need to throw away my empty cup so that I can put my hands inside my pockets and thaw them... and Oh! A trash can! Great, I can carry out the finger-warming plan.
So I walk over to the trash can and extend my arm to deposit the cup... like one would normally do when disposing of waste in a trash receptacle... BUT THIS TIME WAS DIFFERENT! On my way to the trash can, my hand brushes up against something warm and fuzzy. "This is odd," I say to myself... and so I look over to see what this coolness on my hand is... and it's a RACCOON! There was seriously a raccoon sitting on top of the trash can munching on some piece of trash! And I had just punched it!
It took me a minute to realize what was going on, and in that minute a few things ran through my head:
1) Why is there a cat on the trash can and why am I petting it?
2) No wait, why is there a RACCOON on the trash can and why am I petting it?
3) This raccoon has very soft hair. It reminds me of my own hair when there's no gel in it - like a fluffy afro puff. Cool! My new friend's and my first thing in common!
Then I finally realized what was going on. And I let out a much delayed scream and ran away.
Then I also realized that Thomas, the raccoon just looked at me... and went back to his trash uninterested. I wonder if he even felt the blow I delivered to the side of his body... (I'm a really forceful trash-depositor!) But regardless, this raccoon was very unmoved by the situation... and that's why I've decided to name him Thomas. Thomas for... bravery! And for new friend! :)
Okay bye!
Love,
Evan
