Some girl drunkenly yelled out, "Soft Serve", as Doughty was taking requests. He yells back, "Only if you treat me right!"
Half way through his set, he plays "Soft Serve".
This is the one song I've always wanted someone to sing to me. I've already had one guy sing it to me, dancing back and forth on my back porch in the middle of the night...and now Mike Doughty, the writer of the song has sung it for me.
After the show, I got in line, waiting my turn to speak to him, and to hold up my end of the bargain. He sees me and says, "hey, I know that face!" I plop down in a chair next to him, and say, "So, I guess I have to fulfill my end of the bargain." "I did play the song for you," he replies.
So I lean in and kiss him. He kisses me back, and somehow a tongue slides in there. I pull away and tell him, "I really didn't expect you to respond." He just laughs. I say, "okay, I've got to get out of here." He says, "Thanks for the mini-makeout." His eyes follow me as I leave the room.
I don't know if this makes me better for not pussing out, or if it just makes me "one of those girls". Either way, I made out with one of my favorite musicians ever. He's also a really good kisser.
I don't know. It's not like I'd ever do this again...or with anyone else. I've had this insane thing for Mike Doughty for years. I think, since Freshman year.
Ha. I'm pretty sure I win.
