New Simville Prosperity Challenge: Updates Ten and Eleven

Dec 15, 2012 16:39

I really, really just wanted to play my game and so I've finished out the 'hood's rotation and then started the next one >.< There's not much going on in the next couple of updates (or maybe I was just too lazy to film every single action) so you get another combined update!

This house isn't one of the TS1 houses. This house is one of the houses in Belladonna Cove (the AL neighborhood), which is something like 321 Sienna street or something like that.

They layout is still kind of awful, but at least the pathing is decent and all the rooms have doors. Not to mention that with a few minor adjustments the house is set up for a multi-generation family.

Travis Lindmaker was pretty lucky: he managed to find his LTW job (Visionary) on the first day, so I had him go to work before getting him married to his bride-to-be, Phoebe Ng.

Phoebe, on the other hand, has not found her LTW job (Celebrity Chef) so she stays at home for the day.

The Welcome Wagon showed up and the only person who mattered was Ash Finlake (for the reverse family friend count; Ash's family needs friends too). Face Clone was also there. I was going to kill her off but then I realized that there are probably more Sims with the busted face template that needs to be fixed so she gets to stay.

Anyway...

Phoebe spent most of her time heart farting Ash.

I did not hand out Friend Zone tokens.

In an effort to not be as anal retentive as I am with my legacy neighborhood, I'm deciding to let my Sims do what they want. I don't care if Ash and Phoebe cheat with each other, my concern is them getting CAUGHT. And that's mainly because the houses don't have all that many beds for them to sleep separately in when their spouses get upset with them.

Eventually Phoebe said goodbye to the Welcome Wagon and Travis came home from work and I was finally able to get the two of them married.

I'm letting ACR decide how many kids each family should have and letting ACR decide when they should try to have kids. Sometimes that backfires. They didn't get pregnant on their first try.

I even went against my own ACR rule and had them Try For a Baby in the closet, but that was more because both Phoebe and Travis had the want to WooHoo in the closet and their Aspiration meters were barely in the green.

They didn't get pregnant then, either.

So on their wedding night Phoebe spent most of her time on the phone making friends while Travis obsessively cleaned the place.

Phoebe managed to find her LTW job on the second day of the rotation.

But they still didn't get pregnant.

Nathan, who is a Family Sim (and Travis' brother), dropped by to find out what the issue was. Because in Sim time, two days is practically an eternity.

Nathan: I had two kids by the end of my rotation! What's the holdup here?

Travis: Phoebe and I are Romance Sims who aren't gung-ho about having children? It'll happen when it happens?

Nathan: That's a lie and you know it. You're a Family Sim secondary so obviously you have the want to have a baby.

Travis: Actually no, I don't.

Nathan: Well it's starting to look a little suspicious. Are you sure you guys aren't using birth control?

Seriously, I had to check to make sure neither one of them WERE on birth control. Sims are usually quite fertile.

My fears were unfounded because as soon as Nathan was sent home, Travis and Phoebe managed to conceive.

At that time I decided to do some half-hearted remodeling to the house so there would be a functioning nursery as well as better appliances and furniture.

The downside to Phoebe's pregnancy was that she would have her baby pops at like three or four in the morning when she was fully rested.

Because she couldn't go back to sleep, she'd end up meditating for the rest of the night.

Eventually it was baby time!

While Travis was there as moral support at first...

...by the time their daughter, Susanne, was born...

...he had walked away from the labor and decided to watch television.

Hey, I was lucky that, while neither one of them had the want to have kids, at least they didn't have the fear either.

Travis: Heh. I see your boobs.

Phoebe: I'm breastfeeding the baby, perv.

Phoebe: So I'm pretty cool if we only have one kid, how about you, Computer Person?

I'm pretty cool with that too, Phoebe.

Phoebe: Good. I wonder whose nose she's going to get.

I wonder that, too.

Phoebe: Well now that all the "Have a Baby" business is out of the way, how about we WooHoo to our heart's content?

Travis: Sounds good to me.

I seriously thought that they would only have the one kid and I really was pretty cool with that.

I think my game likes to mess with me on purpose.

Travis is a good dad though. He rolled the want to play and hold Susanne.

Phoebe was preoccupied with being pregnant and going to work.

The final day of the rotation was Susanne's birthday. Fortunately Travis' work schedule is opposite Phoebe's so they don't need to hire a nanny yet. Unfortunately Phoebe was at work during Susanne's birthday.

Well I guess I know that the face clone thing in Sim Surgery worked. Susanne has Travis' hair, Phoebe's eye color, Travis' chin, and Phoebe's nose.

And the rotation ends with Travis teaching Susanne her toddler skills because he's rolling the wants to do so (he is a Family Sim secondary after all).

Next up is the Ash Finlake Show!

Seeing as this is another "Camp X Marks the Spot" update, nothing much really happens here. I really, really want to see how Roberta and Ash's genetics mix, if they mix at all.

Roberta: Did'ja jest turn green?

Ash: It won't happen again, my delectable dumpling.

(The mod that I have that makes it where Plant Sims have normal skin resets itself every time they move to a new lot.)

Seeing as they only had about 3K to their name, they had to spend a lot of time digging for treasure. As you do at Camp X Marks the Spot. That's the entire point.

Roberta: I'm gunna git a nice house.

Ash: Why yes, we do have a house in mind. My darling Roberta has her precious heart set on a lovely place and we are planning to do whatever it takes to get it. I beg your pardon? Oh. Why yes, yes I would like to save fifteen percent on my car insurance! Please, do tell me more!

The house I have in mind for these two isn't all that expensive so they aren't as pressured to dig constantly. Seeing as Ash doesn't have a job related LTW, he's the designated "friend maker" of the family.

Roberta found her LTW job (Professional Party Guest) on the second day or something (apparently I didn't get a picture of it) so I decided that the lot needed more skill building activities. On the second day of her job, Roberta also decided that she could be a friend maker for the family...

Rhys? What r u doing?

No, Rhys!

I knew I should have just given some random person The Nose and called it a day.

I really like playing with Plant Sims because they're so easy to take care of. Unfortunately their Sun motive tanks during the night, so Ash spends a lot of time meditating.

The other downside is that while most other Sims experience Hygiene decay while digging for treasure, Plant Sims experience Water motive decay. And instead of just getting stinky, they pass out :(

Ash is perma-plat because he used a genie lamp to Wish for Peace. Roberta, unfortunately, is not. But she's a Pleasure Seeker, so she's constantly rolling wants to go on a date.

Argh! The only thing is that after the first few interactions, she ends up rolling stupid wants and wanting nothing to do with Ash.

Ash: Darling, I wanted to share with you a wonderful joke I heard.

Roberta: Too darn bad! I'm tired.

Ash: But..but--

Roberta: Sleep time!

Yeah, she'd go into the tent and sleep just long enough for the date timer to run out, then she'd wake up and be ready for more digging.

So the weird thing that would happen is that Ash would start playing "She loves me, she loves me not" and he'd always come to the conclusion that Roberta didn't love him. It was sort of heart breaking.

But then finally, FINALLY, towards the end of the week, their date wants coincided with each other!

And so fun times were had by all and Roberta was finally in a platinum mood!

This made Ash very happy.

By the end of their rotation, they had more than enough money to get the beautiful piece of land Roberta had her heart set on.

Roberta wanted the trailer that the Hicks from TS1 lived in. Ash is happy that Roberta is happy.

That's all for now. I thought I had someone in college, but it turns out that I won't until the end of the next 'hood rotation. The next two updates have already been played (and I would like to play my game some more) so that should be coming out relatively soon.

Thank you all for reading, and until next time, Happy Simming!
