You know, it used to be when I got bored I'd go looking for random quizzes to do. Not today. Nope, today I decide to look at dog breeds. *eyeroll* (EDIT: Pics Added. ^^)
James Norrington: Beauceron (Bas-Rouge), male
How He Got It: Father a dog breeder, renowned through England and known through the Continent. While travelling through France, Mr. Norrington happened upon a shepherd with a pair of these dogs. He bought three puppies off the man and once in England sent the male to his son- who was posted in the Caribbean at the time.
Dog Name: Diable (French for 'devil')
How Dog Got Name: James recieved the puppy with a letter that told him the pup's history. When he mentioned to Lt. Gillette that the dog was a French breed, and that he was 'quite a devil of a pup', Gillette suggested naming him 'Diable'.
- Diable (happy Diable, mad Diable's a bit more frightening)
Theodore Groves: Beagle (English beagle), female
How He Got It: Theo's always been fond of hunting, and a particular friend of his, whom he met in Jamaica, had beagle's for hare-hunting, a few in Jamaica and many more in England. He gave Theo a puppy before he left for England.
Dog Name: Toffee (for her toffee shades to her coat)
How Dog Got Name: Theo just up and decided to call her Toffee for the toffee coloured shades in her coat.
- Toffee (ignore the collar- it doens't exist....)
Andrew Gillette: Bichon Frise (bichon Tenerife), 2 male, 4 female
How He Got Them: Of the five dogs, only two were actual gifts from his French cousins. The other three were picked up in ports across the European Mediterranean. Since they are so small, he managed to convince his captain to allow him to keep them. And they proved quite conveniant entertainment amongst those of the midshipman's berth. This was when he only had two. He was promoted to Lieutenant and recieved commision aboard the same vessel, where he picked up two more. Just before being transferred to the Caribbean, he picked up the fifth.
Dog Names: (by oldest-youngest) Tiny (f), Scamp (m), Riot (m), Bilge (f), Sailor (f), Lady (f)
How Dogs Got Names: Tiny- because she is small even for the breed; Scamp- because he is a 'scamp' and trouble-maker; Riot- because he's "a riot", very entertaining and noisy; Bilge- because she was always getting caught in the bilge water; Sailor- because she loved to stand on the bowsprit, was a true sailor; Lady- because compared to her riotous packmates, she is a dainty lady
- Tiny, the oldest and smallest
- Scamp (he got into the mud. DrewDrew's not happy)
- Riot, making a lot of noise. As usual. (ignore the person. and the yellow stool. Look at the cute puppy.)
- Bilge. His fur's short because of his bad habit.
- Sailor, doing a balancing act for a treat. (Again, ignore all modern stuff...)
- Lady, the only one who doesn't drive Andrew up the wall. Isn't she pretty?? (Although she does shed all over his favourite chesterfield.)
Andrew Gillette: Glen of Imaal Terrier, male
How He Got It: The Irish branch of his family is from the Glen of Imaal, and as such, are around the terriers. When one of his sisters' dogs had pups, the family decided to send one down to him. Thankfully, the pup proved to be as sea-worthy as Gillette's other dogs.
Dog Name: Glen
How Dog Got Name: Since he was always saying the pup was a 'Glen of Imaal terrier', he eventually shortened it to 'Glen'.
- Glen... you'd think 6 bichon frise's would be enough, wouldn't you?
James Norrington: Mastiff, male
How He Got It: As stated above, Mr. Norrington is a dog breeder. The breed he started with- and loves the most -is the mastiff. Thus, James grew up with huge dogs. After he had been in the West Indies for five years, his father came down to visit, bringing with him a half-grown mastiff pup. It was a gift for James.
Dog Name: Thunder
How Dog Got Name: Thunder thunders down stairs. And everywhere else. End of story.
Thunder is also 32 inches tall at the shoulder and weighs 200 pounds.
- Thunder being lazy. For once. (Ignore the dogtag... it doens't exist either.... nor does the cat.... *hypnotist voice*
Erm... yeah. Originally no pics. But I decided to be obsessive productive and give out some pretty pics. I make no claim to the real dogs or the pics. So I got a bit carried away. I think poor Andrew got a bit carried away with his dogs, don't you? I mean, 7 little dogs... yeesh. And notice something? James has the two big gaurd dogs. ;D
