If you feel you need something to help you wind down after a busy or stressful day, or if you can't sleep, try this about 2 to 3 hours before turning in:
Prepare some lotus flower incense by placing the spiral, stick, or cone into its holder. Air the room well and keep the incense at a safe distance from flammable materials. Light and blow out if necessary, and then leave to burn. Depending on the size of the incense, it will take between 20 mins and an hour.
Keep an eye on the incense at all times. Don't stand over it and breathe it in, and don't go to sleep whilst it is burning - if you do you will feel like you have slept for a thousand years!
When it has finished burning, through away the ash and go about your normal bedtime routine. Turn in to bed at around 2 to 3 hours later, in order to give the aroma a chance to dissepate.
It should help you to drift off and you should feel relaxed the day after.
You can purchase lotus incense from most shops which sell these kinds of things. For best results, use natural ones.
NOTE: Lotus is an effective relaxant but does not work for everyone. Some people may find that lavendar works better.
