The Return of VDAY 24 Hour Challenge!
Hello everyone! Welcome back to the 24 Hour Valentine's Day Challenge!!!
Celebrating this day for lovers everywhere, your crazy hostesses (Beth and jemz) challenge YOU to write a JE fic within 24 hours!
24 Hour Valentine's Day Challenge
This challenge is very similar to my 1 Hour Fic/Pron Challenge, so if you've participated in any of those rounds, the rules will look very familiar! If you've never did one of those challenges, keep reading to see how it's going to go down.
Here are the rules!
1) Stare at really hot pictures, PVs, clips, etc!
2) Come up with a plot or you know, JUST FREEWRITE ME LOTS OF PRON.
3) Everyone starts writing AT THE SAME TIME for 24 HOURS.
4) POST what you wrote. You're allowed to proofread your fic for simple spelling errors (after all, SPELL CHECK IS YOUR FRIEND!) or even have it beta'd as long as it is within the time limit. This is a timed challenge and the entire point is to let yourself go wild!
5) At the end of the challenge, I am giving you a half hour grace period to post your story with headers (totally optional) and comment on this post with a link to your story.
6) Link to everyone participating in the challenge. After all, it's fun stressing over writing and cheering each other on.
7) Read everyone's efforts and enjoy! Flail as much as you can.
Your theme for inspiration is Valentine's Day! Use chocolate or declarations of love or crazy, romantic antics to get your story going! Any rating, any pairing (as long as a JE boy is a main character), go wild and crazy with it!
This challenge starts on February 13th at 6PM PST (San Francisco). For all of you who are in different time zones, that's 8pm Central (New Orleans), 9pm Eastern (NYC), 2am GST (London), 11am on Feb. 14th (Tokyo), and 1pm on 2/14 (Sydney). It ends on February 14th at 6pm PST. You have until 6:30pm to post and then comment ON THIS POST with your link! Of course, if you finish early, you are more than welcome to post your story at any time. :D
Beth and I will compile the list of stories and authors so we can all read and flail! We'll even give you a handy dandy text box to C&P with everyone's links. :D
We'll hold an AIM chatroom, makemeajevalentine, open for any and all participants who want to join in and flail with encouragement a half hour before the challenge starts (just like all my other 1 Hr Fic Challenges) on Feb. 13. Feel free to ping me (AIM: dancemagicryo) or Beth (AIM: chocolateviolets) for an invite or self-invite yourself to the chatroom.

Onto the WHITE DAY REMIX!
By joining the 24 Hour Valentine's Day Challenge, you are not required to do the White Day Remix.
You may sign up on Feb. 21st to remix any of the stories written in the 24 Hour VDay Challenge on the reminder post which will go up on that day. Please let me know which story you want to remix! All comments will be screened.
VDAY Challenge Participants, please let Beth and I know if you are uncomfortable with your fic being remixed. We will alert any who want to remix your story to choose another one.
For those who don't know what remixing a story entails, here are some salient points we snagged from jentfic_remix:
Have you ever read a story and thought, "You know, if I'd written that, I'd have [made it darker/lighter, shorter/longer, from a different POV, in a different tense, made the pacing faster/slower, structured it differently, told it in flashbacks, etc."? That's what remixing's all about. The idea is to write the story as you would have written it, in your own style; the only things that must remain the same as the original story are:
* The plot. Remixing isn't a about "fixing" a story when you're unhappy with the ending or with a major plot point; it's about different ways of telling a story, and sometimes even about how different viewpoints can change the meaning of events.
* The pairing/characters the story is happening to, because it really wouldn't be the same story if that were changed. If the original story has Pi and Jin caught in the act by Kame, then the remix has to have Pi and Jin caught in the act by Kame; however, if you want to tell the story in flashback form, as Kame relates events to someone else that night...go for it. Also, it doesn't have to have the same level of smut as the original. For instance, if the original had fade-to-black sex, you're welcome to be as graphic as you'd like (or vice versa).
* The setting and timeframe. If the story takes place during the Countdown then that's where it needs to stay. If those details are indeterminate in the story, you can place it when and where you like, so long as it doesn't violate the "no changing plot or pairing/characters" edict.
The White Day Remix will start on Feb. 21st, the sign-up day. You have until White Day to work on your remix story. Because this isn't a timed challenge, all fics must be beta'd and posted on White Day, March 14th.
I'll put up another post on White Day that you can comment with a link to your story. Again, Beth and I will compile a list of all stories submitted for you to read and flail over.
Feel free to pimp this out to your friends! Your friends are more than welcome to join in on the fun and hey, your friends can be our friends or something cheesy like that.
