This is just a song I've been writing for the past hour or so and I decided to share it with you guys. It's not finished yet, since all I have right now are lyrics. I'll probably even change the lyrics later, but for now, here's what I have. Everything in this song is a metaphor, so it's not really about a city burning down or anything like that.

Fire burns without end
The city falls to its knees
Buildings collapse on the ground
To cover us in a blanket of lies

We hide behind our walls
But we can't escape the clouds
The rain crashes down on us
Like tears that never cease

We stare in disbelief
As we ask ourselves why
Everything we've ever known
Lies in ashes at our feet

The air is filled with restless souls
Haunting my every thought
Their screams overcome me
And burn me from the inside out

All hope escapes me
All trust is carried away with the wind
How can I learn to love
If I can't forgive myself

Time has lost all meaning
Night seamlessly fades into day
I wear tattered skin
Scarred as I fell from grace

This pain that never subsides
I feel it linger deep within me
I feel myself fading
I can't face what I've created

And when it's over
The city is buried in sorrow
Grief strikes like lightning
Only despair remains
