Muse Name: Seo Joohyun (Seohyun)
Age: 23
Social Status: Royalty

Background:
As the second royal child and the eldest female, the wellbeing of Princess Seohyun was a very, very big deal. Seohyun was delicate like a daisy, beautiful since birth yet frail and vulnerable as a child, often suffering from a range of health problems. The young princess was often bedridden for the first few years of her childhood; thinking back, she considered those years the most precious years of her life, and she often felt remorseful, as if she could have made it different, as if she could have done something to not waste time being sick in bed and worrying her royal parents.

To catch up for her lost time, Seohyun quickly began to learn the art of calligraphy, literature, painting, and music in her early teens, under the watchful eyes of her parents, the new King and Queen. They were strict, and made sure everything about her was impeccable. She believed strongly that they didn't only do so simply to make sure they could send her off to a man as soon as possible, but because they sincerely loved and cared about her as their daughter and the elder princess, and simply wanted to make sure she was raised and presented as who she should be. Under their care, Seohyun grew up to become an intelligent and beautiful young lady, who exceeded expectations in everything she was taught. The royal parents were definitely pleased, and it was a given that many noble men were willing to do almost everything to capture the princess's heart, yet the King couldn't seem to find a man that would suit his precious daughter.

Perhaps this was fate, because behind closed doors, Princess Seohyun was simply Joohyun, a girl who wanted to learn more about her people, and to be a part of her father and his officers' circle of politics. Marriage was not her priority. She had heard a lot of things from her elder brother, how he felt that there was a problem with his father's advisors, how his father didn't care enough. Joohyun hated the fact that she was a girl, having to stay away from what only men were permitted to be involved in, and having to be deemed incapable of doing other things that men could do, but that was how Joohyun felt; most of the time, she was Princess Seohyun, and as the princess, she always fulfilled her role, impeccably and willingly.

Joohyun began learning things from her brother since then, martial arts, swordplay and politics on a basic level so that Joohyun could be prepared, so that she could have knowledge. It was something that was kept secret from everyone else, including their younger siblings. To be honest, Joohyun did not expect to be able to change any of their father's decisions that they believe are incorrect, even as the princess. She only wished to be someone different, to break through the stereotype of a royalty, while still maintaining her pride and power as a member of the royal family.

There was now a difference between Princess Seohyun and Joohyun; the former being the royalty that was the ideal princess, and the role model of all the women in the country, and the latter being Joohyun, a strong, independent girl who was trying to break free and become someone completely different from that.

Personality:
Seohyun is well known as the ultimate golden standard of a perfect woman. She is graceful, thoughtful, and most importantly obedient; she understands the importance of obedience and inferiority among other factors that are sought for in women, and she matches the criteria perfectly. She is admired by many women, envied for her beauty and her image of a perfect wife and mother, and amazed by the subtle kindness that she showed toward the commoners on her very, very rare visits outside the palace.

For those who work in the palace, or those who have the privilege to be connected to the royal family in some way, she is well-mannered, soft-spoken, and sensible like anyone would expect from, well, a princess. She takes great care of herself and of the others around her, easy to approach by her servants yet still maintaining her nobility, an aura that is different from others, that speaks of her identity. As one of the older children of the five, she carries a sense of responsibility, the knowledge that she is held partly responsible for whatever her younger siblings do. She has a lot of insight, in many different fields, and she picks up knowledge very quickly. Extremely sensitive to her surroundings, she is able to adapt to any situation. She is also a perfectionist, known to be extremely picky over how furniture is placed, how dishes are laid out for every meal, and how the flowers are arranged in the gardens. She is also known to speak very respectfully to her elders, even those of a lower status than her, as she believes that the art of speech is not to be banished by her royal status.

She also has another side of her that no one except her older brother knows of. The intelligent, determined, and tough Joohyun that her brother contributed to. Slowly learning the ways of a man, Joohyun isn't picking up the characteristics of a man, but simply the skills and the mindset of one. Joohyun is kind-hearted and has the best interest for the people, a princess who is not bad-mouthed for having a princess complex, who is willing to reach out to people of all levels. She is earnest and humble, yet doesn't let other take advantage of her honesty and still remembers to always carry the superior aura that a princess should carry. All in all, she is a girl of many sides; very few have seen through the surface.

Facts:
❦・ While everyone knows her as Princess Seohyun, within the family she is Joohyun, the name given to her at birth. The title "Seohyun" was given to her by the late Queen dowager, her grandmother. The characters of the name roughly mean "gentle and mysterious," the way she wanted the young princess to present herself.

❦・ Seohyun is known to be a lover of pearls; she is always seen wearing many different pearl jewelry that are designed just for her. Upon hearing this rumor, many nobles and the like have approached the palace to please her by bringing extravagant pearl jewelry and naming them after her, wishing to land themselves a seat in the royal family.

❦・ Seohyun spends her spare time painting, practicing calligraphy, writing poems, and playing the gayageum, yet her true passion lies in singing. She has a beautiful voice, one that she is shy of showing off, and she would usually only sing to herself. After watching the many performances that her father's dancers put together during banquets, she has also developed an interest for moving so gracefully like them. However, she understands that dancing is usually only used to seduce men and often tries to deny the urge to learn more, to try out some moves herself.

❦・ Although Seohyun is definitely not young anymore, she still maintains some of the innocence that a teenage girl has. She is 23, but she only looks 19 most of the time, and her mind is still as pure as the snow caps on the mountains behind the palace. Many cannot tell that she is in fact the older princess, and she is just beginning to wonder whether that's a good thing or not.

❦・ Marriage is the last thing that is on Seohyun's mind. She is fearful of what has to come, as she understands that it is her fate to marry someone that her parents feel are suitable for her. Yet she has her own goals and interests as a free woman, and dreads the very idea of having that taken away from her. She has considered the possibility of being with someone that she might come to love, and it is only then will she be truly satisfied with the end result. Otherwise, she continues to wait and spends more than half of that time denying the fact that it could be anytime now, now that she is already very late for marriage, and is luckily still one of the most desired women in the country.
