I'm probably going to be a tremendous bore about my aquarium for ever more, I can see it happening. But but but!
I got some more fish the other day since my biological filter seemed to be working rather *too* efficiently with just the small number I started with. So now I am the proud and gleeful owner of Virgil the angry blue-green betta, The Heisenberg Uncertainty Catfish (is it male? female? WHERE THE HELL IS IT? IS IT EVEN A CATFISH?!) and a shoal of eleven neon tetras, which are delightful.
In the original group of five, there was a very adventurous loner tetra, that I had dubbed Maverick. Sadly now I can't tell which one he is, but there are two with slightly different fins that I can identify, so they are Frilly and Torpedo. :)
The plants have only been in a couple of weeks and had a rather traumatic planting experience. They're only just starting to grow so they still look a bit sad. I probably need at least another couple of weeks before they look decent, but it may take a little while before they're as lush and dense as I'm hoping for. Then maybe i can have some shrimps. I have 14 fish centimeters left in my tank, I'll be darned if I'm going to waste them. I wonder how one allows for shrimps in that stocking calculation.
I'm also getting a bit obsessive about water chemistry. Mmmmm nitrogen cycle and optimum pH geekery.
Oh, and I might have a job. Maybe. In Reading. Dunno yet.
Sorry that I suck and haven't replied to any LJ comments for ages!
