STOP! Did you vote for all of
these people first?: Of course!
THE USUAL STUFF
Name/Nickname: Real name Karin (through no fault of my own), but nicknames include Pippin, Hermione, Archie Kennedy.
Would you mind being stamped as the opposite sex?: Considering two of my listed nicknames are guys, not in the least!
Age: 18, sort of.
Yourself in 3 words: Reserved, Loyal, Dreamer
Strengths: Imagination to the point of probably seeming insane since I go by the names of my favourite characters in books or movies, sense of fun and adventure and justice, and compassion toward people I already care about
Weaknesses: Not being overly sympathetic to those I dislike, kind of nervous, a bit of a tendency to panic, kind of easily bossed around by certain people, whiny, sometimes getting carried away or talking too much
Loves: Music, books, adventures involving sailboats
Pet Peves: People who use stupid irritating expressions (“ickle squdgie-wudgums,” “wumple-warp”, etc.) in conversation with other human beings, bad music (actually this is more like a long-standing hatred - I practically cringe if I hear something I don’t like, it’s one of those things that probably would qualify me as “certified nutter” if I mentioned it to a psychiatrist.....), when my characters in books do idiotic things
FAVORITES
Food: Chocolate and bread
Snack: Toast with Reed’s raspberry ginger beer to drink
Color: Blue
Type of Music: Classical! Though I do enjoy some musicals (Les Miserables cannot be beaten, stage-musically speaking. It is quite simply amazing) and a bit of pop stuff. The music that is almost invariably fantastic, however, is that of Boccherini, Corelli, Mozart, and obviously Beethoven (though I’m an amateur at best when it comes down to it)
Movie: Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. It has sailing and adventure and fantastic classical music (the three things that make an automatic classic) that introduced me to a range of different composers
Animal: Albatross - graceful and
Peanuts Character and Why?: Linus is a fantastic character and what we should all aspire to, though I always sympathised with Charlie Brown’s wishy-washiness, and Schroeder has the best taste.
Peanuts pairing and Why?: Schroeder and Lucy, because I think she would demonstrate to him that there is a world beyond his piano, and he would make her realise she’s not always correct - they’d both bring each other humility
Peanuts quote and Why?: “My anxieties have anxieties” because mine do!
Peanuts Movie and Special?: A Charlie Brown Christmas. It’s just such a classic and really beautiful.
IN THAT CASE:
Who's your least favorite Peanuts character? Why?: I was never a fan of Patty or Violet. They just seemed like extras.
What's your least favorite Peanuts pairing? Why?: Charlie Brown and the Little Red-Haired Girl. It’s not that I dislike them, but she’s never seen, so for all we, the audience, know she could be annoying.:
In General:
What are you fascinated by?: History, music, really good books, sailing ships, the stars.
Who is your hero?: Lord Nelson! He was a great man and a fascinating historical figure, both personally and professionally.
Are you decisive or whishy-washy?: I can’t decide - I guess that is my answer.
What's your family situation like?: I’ve got an older sister who is most definitely a unique character. Bossy, sarcastic but charismatic she sort of dominated my childhood. She taught me all I know, which is why I don’t know a lot of actual facts but have a great deal of what one might call questionable wisdom. Also a younger sister who can be a little loud and obnoxious but she’s fourteen, I was just the same way when I was her age, only less popular.
What makes you shout 'AUGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!': A lot of things, sadly. But especially when people come into a room where I’m working and just hover, or sit there, or try to make boring conversation.
Complete the following sentence with five things and why. "HAPPINESS IS...1. Listening to a beautiful piece of music while reading Peanuts comics. 2. Sailing around in a snipe with cousins and siblings. 3. Going on a long exciting trip to a new land. 4. Staying up late talking of everything and nothing with a dear friend. 5. Watching my favourite movie for the tenth time and realising I still love it as much as I did the first time, or perhaps more. Same with books.
What was the best advice you ever got from Peanuts?: As far as survival goes, Lucy’s advice is good. For a younger sibling, her words of wisdom can often be taken to heart and followed, simply because it is the best way to avoid getting clobbered. As far as actual wisdom......”Beethoven had his problems too.” Honestly, this puts everything in perspective. I was in a children’s theatre play, and one of the actors had lost a minor prop and was freaking out. I was getting irritated with all the fuss over one unimportant prop, and I hit him with, “Beethoven was deaf and couldn’t hear his own amazing music, and you’re worried about a SCARF?” and after he had stopped laughing, he thanked me for the perspective. There’s wisdom for you.
Give us five quick little-known facts or life lessons: 1. Horatio Hornblower is an extraordinarily unfortunate name (I’m not sure whether this is a little-known fact or a life lesson.) 2. Classical music (or whatever kind of music is your favourite - but I would say classical especially, there’s something about it that other genres can’t quite achieve. It really is the best.) is the cure for all depression, anxiety, sadness, melancholy, forlornness, loneliness..... 3. Older sisters may not know everything but they do care, even when they act like tyrants. 4. Life is better when you can pretend to be a character in a book, that way you can have all sorts of problems and tribulations but people who read about you like you anyway. 5. Faith is really quite incredible, especially when it is faith in a friend.
How did you react to hearing about Charles M. Schulz's death?: I don’t remember. I just recall hearing about it in the paper, and suddenly realising there would be no more new Peanuts comics. It was sad, but I honestly don’t remember it that well.
