Figured I would update, things have been going good, started riding ditto in the riding ring yesterday.. a little nervous, but that is understandible, but she's got at LEAST a month before I ask anything above a walk, I'm training this baby right, as I always have. I don't have any room for fucking up on a horse this good! Maybe if she was just an open show kind of horse, but no, she's for sale, so I want to sell a good one!
Went and got hay today, me and mom switched the horses onto timothy/alfalfa mix which is $11 a bale instead of $5 a bale, but I feed less of it, and it's green and MUCH higher in protein than any coastal hay, so that's a great thing. And merlin is putting on weight, pray he really just wintered bad! If so we know how to prevent it this time!
The boys are healing from their "gelding" rather well, so I'm very happy with that, although I can tell doc is really pissed at me, he thinks it's all my fault, which it really is.
And I'm working out a lease with nancy on two of her broodmares, probably doc's mother and flicka's mother.... I'll get them for two years starting this winter, that means for two years they are ALL mine to do as I wish with them. I breed them both of those years. They get one of the babies, I get the other, so basically I would get two babies, bred to WHOEVER I wish on these horses... and with the bloodlines running in those mares, they could be real TRUE showhorses, meaning world show quality, which is something I don't have, other than possibly flicka... I'm looking at Just Duke, Remenic dun it, and zips chocolate chip so far. The horses I breed with for nancy to get will probably be one Dun it baby and another of something else, probably just duke, so she knows how we breed our horses down here!
So yeah, I'm terribly excited! And we get to breed destiny soon! YAY! That's going to be awesome as hell! We finally clipped her legs and everything today, and SHE'S NOT REALLY EVEN BROWN AT ALL! SHE'S EITHER BLACK, OR BLACK/BAY! The sun really just dies her out something awful, but everywhere that wasn't clipped including her head, sure as hell is not brown! That's awesome, so after she gets bred, she will live inside and have a nice healthy coat on her! So yeah! That's all that's going on!
Guess I better run, I'm staying at jason's house, then I have to work in the morning, then I'm out at the barn all day alone b/c shannon has to work with her mom, blegh
